Game overview

Fishing Puzzles is a board-clearing game built on a single rule: two identical fish disappear when nothing sits between them along a row or a column. That constraint changes how you read the grid, because a pair that looks obvious is often blocked by one fish you should have removed first. The challenge set builds up from wide open boards to dense grids where the opening move decides whether the rest of the board unlocks or seizes up.

This title is best suited to players who prefer a solvable logic grid over a reflex test.

How to play Fishing Puzzles

  1. Find two identical fish in the same row or column
  2. Check that the path between them is empty
  3. Tap both to remove the pair
  4. Keep clearing until the grid is empty

Tips for Fishing Puzzles

  • Remove edge pairs early to open long lines through the middle
  • Before any match, ask which pair that clearance unblocks
  • If two matches are available for the same fish, take the one that opens a line

What worked well and what did not

Pros

  • Fixed layouts mean a hard board is genuinely solvable
  • The line-of-sight rule rewards looking ahead

Cons

  • Dense grids can dead-end from one early mistake
  • No timer, so there is little tension for arcade players
